Kitchen Designs for Families that Entertain Often

Posted on

Family gatherings, holidays, church group meetings, children gatherings, and special events throughout the year tend to bring the idea of busy schedules to mind. If you entertain during these events, or if you have other events throughout the year that put you in entertaining mode, then you know the importance of having the right kitchen design for the job. You want a kitchen design that works for your family during regular daily life, but also works for entertaining large numbers. If you are thinking of renovating your kitchen with a kitchen design to fit your entertaining needs, here are a few ideas.

Dual Oven Designs

It is not uncommon to think of a dual oven design when you consider a kitchen designed for entertaining and prep. Instead of considering the traditional dual oven system, consider having one convection oven and one traditional oven. This allows you to cook certain items, like beef wellington, at faster cooking times while items that need longer slower cooking times can remain in the traditional oven. Try to avoid a design that puts an oven in an island bar as this could lead to accidental burns if children are nearby.

Buffet Bar Designs

You may have a bar that fits two or three barstools, but if you are looking for a design that helps when you are entertaining or in your daily life then there are other options. One of the options is to go with a buffet bar design. These designs are longer, can sit four or more people comfortably, and have a dual level bar. This allows you to lay out food in a buffet style on one level while guests eat from the other level, or you can use both levels to maximize the amount of food you can place in a smaller buffet style area. When not in use for entertaining, you may find that this buffet bar design works well to allow four people to sit on one side and up to four on the other, treating the bar like a table and saving valued space in the kitchen.

Anti-Slip Flooring

When people consider a kitchen design for entertaining, they often overlook the need for an anti-slip floor option. Consider the fact that when you are entertaining, you may have several dozen or more people in and out of the kitchen area. These guests will likely be wearing different footwear, and some of those may not be safe for your current flooring option. Instead of jumping to the first appealing tile option, consider options that mean your design theme while offering safety to your variety of guests.

These are just three of the kitchen design options to consider for your entertaining kitchen and kitchen renovations. For more ideas, and price estimate, contact your local renovation contractor for a consultation.
